Exclusive: Ms. Marvel stars Saagar Shaikh and Rish Shah reveal they have hidden cameos in the series' premiere episode's AvengerCon scene.
Ms. Marvel stars Saagar Shaikh and Rish Shah have revealed they have hidden cameos in the series premiere episode's AvengerCon scene. Shaikh stars as Kamala Khan's brother, Aamir, while Shah stars as Kamala's crush, Kamran. Iman Vellani stars as the young hero in the upcoming Disney+ series who loves the Avengers.
As one of Marvel's newest heroes, Kamala Khan (Vellani) is a high-school student who has grown up admiring the spectacular deeds of the MCU's heroes, with Brie Larson's Captain Marvel being the Avenger she looks up to most. As seen through hero cosplayers and Rogers: The Musical in Hawkeye, the heroes have their own fanbases, which will be seen in Ms. Marvel's AvengersCon. The convention features statues and exhibits dedicated to the MCU's defenders that are visited by adoring fans like Kamala.
In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Shaikh revealed that he and Shah appeared during the AvengersCon scene in the series' first episode dressed as two of Marvel's biggest heroes. When asked whether fans would be able to recognize them, the actor confirmed their scene made it into the final cut of the episode. Shaikh revealed that he was dressed as Iron Man while Shah was dressed as Captain America, with Shah revealing that they had both been impressed by the AvengerCon set. Check out both actors' responses below.
As seen in Ms. Marvel's first trailer, Kamala's fandom of superheroes will be adapted for her MCU appearance, with the young hero creating her own cosplay of Captain Marvel for the convention. In an interview in April, Ms. Marvel's co-creator Sana Amanat stated that Vellani perfectly embodies Kamala's admiration for superheroes due to her own love of Marvel's universe. Amanat revealed that the star gave her a tour of her own Avengers collection, with the sheer volume of merchandise impressing the character's creator.
After glimpses of the Avenger's cultural impact on the world, Ms. Marvel is set to give fans a greater glimpse of the universe from the perspective of a fan in-universe. AvengersCon not only became a favorite inclusion of Shaikh and Shah, but Marvel president Kevin Feige was tempted to create a real convention inspired by AvengersCon. The scene promises to be one of the most memorable scenes of Ms. Marvel when it debuts on June 8, and fans can now keep an eye out for Shaikh and Shah's surprise cameos.
