Some believe that the silence from the developer and publisher can only indicate an inevitable delay for God of War Ragnarok, while others believe that a release date is still in sight for 2022. Without official confirmation, most have been left to speculate about when a release date could be announced.
The occasional word from a leaker has attempted to give some solidity on when fans can expect God of War: Ragnarok. Recently, one leaker by the name of The Snitch hinted via a vague Tweet that there could be a Sony State of Play presentation on June 30, which would presumably feature a major God of War announcement like the elusive launch date. These State of Play rumors were backed up by prominent leaker and industry insider Tom Henderson, who has since updated gamers with what they can expect.
On Twitter, Henderson stated that at the moment it appears that a God of War: Ragnarok announcement is unlikely, as Sony has recently announced it will be hosting a PC Showcase to show off its new gaming hardware line titled Inzone. With Sony's focus being placed onto the PC market, it seems highly unlikely that an official State of Play will be hosted on June 30 with little to no news leading up to it.
However, Tom Henderson still believes that an announcement for God of War: Ragnarok could be on the way very soon. Henderson still thinks that details could be revealed by the "end of the day," while also stating that this information may not be unveiled via official sources. If there is any hope of a God of War release date being dropped, it seems that it will be through an unofficial source, as Sony is unlikely to give out information on its new PC hardware brand as well as the release date of one of its biggest games left in 2022 on the same day.
While it may be disappointing for fans to hear that the expected a State of Play on June 30 and a highly anticipated reveal of God of War: Ragnarok's release date won't be happening just yet, this information does line up with recent tweets from God of War producer Cory Barlog, who asked fans to be patient. Barlog also stated that "things will be shared at the earliest possible moment they can be," meaning that perhaps when all the information around Sony's new Inzone products has dropped, fans can finally know when they'll play God of War: Ragnarok.
